What is Pool Bead Blasting?
Swimming Pool Bead Blasting
is a term for the cleaning process by which spherical particles are forced against pool tile surfaces at low speeds using compressed air (65 psi). Much like sandblasting, bead blasting is surface treatment that produces a smooth, even finish. Materials used for pool bead blasting vary from garnet to walnut shells to glass and each of these materials are used for specific applications and produce distinct surface finishes.Pool bead blasting is not a do-it-yourself project. Let Arizona Bead Blasting take all the mess and frustration out of cleaning your pool tile. Our tools and equipment are custom made for pool bead blasting, and we use glass beads for the best results.
Why Glass Bead Blasting?
The glass beads used in pool bead blasting are manufactured from lead-free, soda lime-type glass. They are pre-formed into spherical shapes and are silica free. Pool bead blasting with glass beads will never cut or scratch your pool tiles. Because of their shape and balance, glass beads produce a smooth, glossy finish that cannot be achieved with angular abrasives. Due to their spherical shape, glass beads do not have a cutting action and will not destroy or alter the finish of your tile!
The entire pool bead blasting process is environmentally friendly and does not involve chemicals. Glass beads produce the best finish on your pool tiles and clean up is easy - we do it for you!
Why Glass Beads?
We use glass beads because they provide the best results when it comes to pool bead blasting. We do not recommend soda blasting for very important reasons. First, soda blasting is a water and media mixture shot at very high pressure (300-1000 psi). This high pressure puts pool surfaces at high risk for damage. Second, due to the chemical nature of soda blasting, landscape plants surrounding the pool area will die with deposits of blasting dust. Finally, the cost! Not only does glass bead blasting produce the best results-- it cost much less than soda blasting.
While there are many types of media used to clean surfaces, glass beads are best when it comes to pool bead blasting. Not only will glass bead blasting take a fraction of the amount of time that a pumice stone or brush will, it also does a better and more complete cleaning than any other media available for blasting. Plus, cleaning up is easy! We use a portable vacuum system that removes the glass beads and calcium fragments from your pool, leaving you no mess to clean!
