A Recent Glass Pool Tile Calcium Removal Job in Tempe
Giggi contacted Arizona Bead Blasting about calcium buildup on the turquoise glass tile surrounding her Tempe swimming pool. After approximately three years, the mineral deposits had begun hiding the beautiful color and reflective finish of the glass.
Glass pool tile requires a careful approach because its smooth, reflective surface can show scratches or damage more readily than traditional pool tile. We selected controlled, low-pressure salt blasting using Kieserite mineral media to remove the calcium.
The calcium removal took approximately an hour and a half. As the deposits came off, the turquoise glass became visible again. And throughout the job, Ginger, Giggi's dog, kept watch from her poolside cushion.

How We Removed the Calcium
Inspect the Tile
We inspected the turquoise glass tile and its three years of calcium buildup. The delicate glass surface required extra care during calcium removal.
Remove the Scale
Using low-pressure salt blasting with Kieserite mineral media, we carefully removed the calcium along the waterline.
Clean Up & Finish
We checked the waterline for remaining deposits and finished the calcium removal in approximately 1½ hours, revealing the beautiful turquoise tile.
The Difference Is in the Tile
After approximately three years of calcium buildup, Giggi's turquoise glass pool tile needed professional calcium removal. Controlled salt blasting removed the mineral deposits, revealing the beautiful turquoise color beneath.
The Result
After approximately an hour and a half of careful salt blasting, the calcium buildup that had accumulated over three years was removed from Giggi's turquoise glass pool tile. The mineral deposits had been hiding the tile's beautiful color, but with the waterline cleaned, the vibrant turquoise glass was visible again.
Glass pool tile requires special attention because its smooth, reflective surface can be more sensitive than traditional ceramic or porcelain tile. By using controlled, low-pressure salt blasting with Kieserite mineral media, we were able to remove the calcium while taking care with the glass surface. And of course, Ginger was nearby, keeping an eye on the progress.
